I just got off a 30-minute diagnostic call with a Mexico-based e-com and logistics founder.

We'd exchanged 4-5 messages over the last two months.

Today we finally met to audit his entire outbound strategy.

Quick context: I don't do traditional sales calls where I pitch my offer. Instead, I run diagnostic calls where I dissect your entire business development and outbound system and map out the next steps.

WITHOUT pitching my offer.

Okay, back to our conversation now…

Within minutes, it was obvious why their outbound wasn't landing deals.

And these mistakes are way too common among freight forwarders.

Here are 3 common mistakes I see freight forwarders make while sending cold emails:

1. You're emailing addresses that no longer exist

Dead emails bounce. And bounces hurt your sender reputation.

So I recommend verifying every list with tools like MillionVerifier or LeadMagic before you send.

2. You're not using professional tools to send at scale

A regular inbox won't hold up at volume, even if you use a professional account.

Platforms like Inboxkit or ScaleMail are built for this. Choosing the right tool is important.

3. You've burned your main domain

If you use one domain for cold email for a long time, Gmail and Outlook may have flagged you as spam.

So always check your domain on GoDaddy or Whois.com before launching your campaign.

If you're planning to systematise your cold outbound, you need 3 things:

  1. Validate your lists

  2. Professionalize how you send

  3. Protect your domain

You can’t miss any of the above 3 steps…

I know many of you are facing similar issues, so I wanted to write this quick email before it slips my mind.

If you'd like a diagnostic call like this with me personally, book a time here.
